Even within the context of the last three years, this last week has been a shocker for Aussie rugby. This week on the Green and Gold Rugby Show, Hugh, Matt and Jamie come together to debate the chaotic topic of Israel Folau and what his departure will mean for the Wallabies, with a little bit of Super Rugby thrown in for good measure.
We were so excited about this one, even Reg came back! This week on the Green and Gold Rugby Show, Matt and Hugh chewed the fat with Wallabies coach Michael Cheika as he was getting ready to fly out to Europe and Japan, and gained some fascinating insights into his Rugby World Cup preparation and how he sees his job. The lads were then joined by Rugby Reg himself (glowing from the Reds win on the weekend), to discuss the current progress of the Super Rugby franchises, the falling out of the Sunwolves removal from Super Rugby, and more. Strap in. He’s a good one.…
Blake, James and Richard are back for another yarn about all things Rugby.
We’re fashionably late, but better late than never. The Green and Gold Rugby Show is back once again in 2019, here to get you over the game line on all the hottest topics in Australian rugby. Matt, Jamie and Hugh are in the chair, and this week they got to sit down with Brumbies assistant coach (and rugby godfather) Laurie Fisher, as well as offer their insights on the first fortnight of Super Rugby.
All the boys are back together to dissect the opening round of the Super Rugby Season plus Blake had the pleasure of interviewing Lachlan McCaffrey during the week.
Blake and Richard sit down to discuss the 6 Nations and the start of the Super Rugby season. As well as the Rugby Report Card tipping comp and an interview with Rebels front rower Hugh Roach.
Blake, James and Richard are back for their first podcast of 2019. They talk all things rugby including the Six Nations, Player moments, the Super Rugby Season and found their way out to the 7’s where they interviewed some players and coaches from the Rugby World.
Well, ladies and gentleman, first things first: Happy New Year! The shambles that was 2018 is history, and a new year is upon us. 2019 brings us the long awaited World Cup in Japan, and a new competition in Global Rapid Rugby set to launch in Asia. Since 2016, we’ve been having a shocker when it comes to rugby, not just on the field, but as a brand. Whenever anyone thinks of rugby now, they talk about how much of a mess it is in. The Wallabies are losing match after match and Rugby Australia seemed to lack the balls to take any action, and…
The final news day of the year sees drama in the Castle, Sevens speak, a boost in funding and dreams being chased. [one_half last=”no”] “Contracted thru 2 the World Cup” Contracted through to the world cup, she said. He’s got a plan, she said. We’re going to get 3/3 on the European trip, she goddamn well said. Well, now it looks like Raelene Castle has had enough. In an extraordinary media leak, it’s reveals that Castle cancelled a phone call with Jake White, after the detail of the call was leaked to the media. Calls for Michael Cheika’s head have only…
We’ve got one last podcast in us for the year. After a season characterised by one disaster after another, Rugby Reg, Matt and Hugh come together to talk about the result against England, where the Wallabies go from here, and more. Warning – occasional mild coarse language The Five Burning Questions: 1. What the hell did we take away from that loss? 2. Is there any way the Wallabies can turn it around? 3. Is it time to blow up the whole thing and start again? 4. What are the positives from this season? 5. What is there to look forward…
Friday’s Rugby News sees us preparing for the match against the old enemy, spin from the Wallabies and Sevens camps, Twiggy defending Raelene and a new lad on the block at Brumbies HQ. [one_half last=”no”] Finishing in Style It’s the final weekend of rugby for the year (with the exception of a Barbarians-Pumas match on December 1), so without further ado, let’s dive in. The Wallabies will head into their last match of the year off the back of a disrupted week of preparation, further set by calls for selection changes and illness reportedly affecting a third of the squad.…
Matt and Jamie are back for another week to get you over the game line on all the hottest topics in Australian rugby, including the Wallabies loss to Wales, their win over Italy, their upcoming match against England, Ireland’s victory over the All Blacks, and more. This week, they were joined by JB from The Eggchasers Podcast to dissect all the latest from the Spring Tour. The Five Burning Questions: 1. What has been JB’s favourite match so far: Wales-Australia or Ireland-New Zealand? (feat. JB) 2. What can we expect this weekend? (feat. JB) 3. Where will this Spring Tour leave the World Cup favourites? (feat. JB) 4. Were…
Friday’s Rugby News sees our squad to take on the Azzurri, universal frustration, great news for Force fans and another double header announced. [one_half last=”no”] Penultimate Peril Week two of the November Internationals are upon us, and this week the Wallabies are on their way to Padua to play the Azzurri. It’s fair to say that confidence in the Wallabies have hit the bottom of the barrel, but let’s face it, for all the pain of this year, if we lose to the currently 13th ranked Italy (as South Africa did last year), it’ll be the equivalent of going straight through the…
In our 250th edition of Friday’s Rugby News, we discuss our squad to take on the Welsh, more spin, a review under lock and key and more complaints about the lineout. [one_half last=”no”] Squadin’ The November Internationals continue this weekend, with the Wallabies entering the dragon pit to take on Wales. While we’ve stacked up a thirteen match winning streak against the Welsh over the last decade, many folks are convinced that given our poor form, that record is looking more likely than ever to come to an end this week. It’s a weird record to have as well, as so many times…
The GAGR lads are back for another week, and for their three-hundredth podcast Hugh, Jamie and Nick keep it short and sweet with a preview of the upcoming Spring Tour, as well as the other big talking points in Australian Rugby. Only three burning questions this week. The Five Three Burning Questions: 1. Is winning 3/3 a realistic chance for the Wallabies? 2. The Farrell Hit: did Gus Gardner get it right? 3. Rapid Rugby: what are our thoughts on Twiggy’s new announcement?
Monday’s Rugby News has a warning from Wales, Naisarani on tour, us getting closer to hosting the Women’s World Cup and Kieran Read to hang up the boots. [one_half last=”no”] Watch out, We’re coming for You While the Wallabies weren’t in action this weekend, there were plenty of teams who were. Starting off, Japan got their highest ever score against the All Blacks. Unfortunately, the All Blacks scored more than double that and they won 31-69. England started off their November International season with a controversial 12-11 win over South Africa at Twickenham. It was a high stakes match, not…
Friday’s Rugby News sees us talking about cold, hard cash, the latest from the Wallabies and Womens Sevens, The Rebels adding more to their stock and more controversy around a certain English coach. [one_half last=”no”] Cold, Hard Cash It’s the end of the week, so let’s talk money. Ya know, the thing Rugby Australia focus more on than the management of the game in this country? But, while it is easy to poke fun at the governing body, according to Raelene Castle, money could be in much more plentiful supply come 2021. With the next iteration of Super Rugby being ironed…
Monday’s Rugby News sees us lose… again, the NRC Grand Final results, us apparently now having a plan and more on the shove incident. [one_half last=”no”] *Bangs head against keyboard* Well folks, here we are again. Another week, another Wallabies loss. Granted, most of us thought it was coming, but the fact that the 20-37 loss to the All Blacks had moments where we could’ve turned the tide of the game was even more disappointing. It’s the literal engagement for Aussie fans right now: there’s so much potential, an occasional flash of brilliance, and the rest of the time it’s crap.…
Friday’s Rugby News sees the Wallaby squad for Bledisloe III, the final edition of club corner for the year, surprising times at the Reds and NSW and bringing it all back with the Invictus Games. [one_half last=”no”] Under the Lights The stage is set for the clash between the Wallabies and the All Blacks in Japan, and weirdly enough, I’m not concerned by it. Maybe it’s because we’ve been so bad for so much of this season that really any sort of improvement could be positive, because it is at least not as bad as where we have been in…
Friday’s Rugby News sees goss on the John Eales Medal and the Wallabies squad for Bledisloe III, NRC Corner, the final round of Uni Sevens and the Waratahs moving games out west. [one_half last=”no”] Stacking Up The Gold The last twenty-four hours have been was a busy time for all things Wallabies related, and the first big news was the squad announcement as to who will be going to Japan for the dead rubber clash with the All Blacks. There have been five changes to the squad, with Tatafu Polota-Nau, Caleb Timu and Matt Toomua all heading back to Leicester and Tom…
