Eastwood v Gordon
Eastwood have taken the top spot on the Shute Shield ladder with a bonus point 49-22 win over Gordon. It was a classic game of running rugby with both sides moving the ball down the line but Eastwood was just too good for the Gordon defence, crossing the line six times for another bonus point win that sees them overtake Souths and take top spot.
Eastwood 49 (Nick Batger, Jimmy Hilgendorf, Mitch Lees, James Neale, Hugh Perrett, Hugh Roach tries, Ben Batger 5 cons, 3 pens) d Gordon 22 (Tobias Gukibau, Mark Preston tries, Terry Preston 4 pens) at T.G. Milner Field. Referee Jamie McGregor.
Warringah v West Harbour
The Pirates led the match in the early stages but the Rats soon spoiled their lead, running in four tries in the first half to lead 26-17 at half-time. In a fast-paced game of running rugby, both sides struggled to keep the other from the try line. It was a game of tug-of-war with both sides running in several tries but the Pirates were just too strong and scored the winning try only minutes before the buzzer to win 46-40.
West Harbour 46 (David Lolohea, Vaughan Lomax, Vaka Manu, Tito Mua 2, Shane Treweek tries, Jack Debreczeni 5 cons, 2 pens) d Warringah 40 (Ben Adams, Brad Dixon 3, Josh Holmes, Conrad Gillingham tries, David Harvey 5 cons) Pittwater Rugby Park. Referee Nathan Pearce.
