Make Australian Rugby Great Again

The Reds managed 30 minutes of amazing rugby a week ago. Can they build on that base or was it a beautiful mirage? The Sharks have had nearly as bad a season as the Reds but the luck hasn’t fallen their way. This looks like a crucial match for both teams. The Sharks look to take a win away from the Australasian tour and the Reds trying to earn back respect. The Match The game started slowly as the Reds spent most of the first five minutes in the Sharks half. They had two good opportunities to score but knocked…

There have been major shake ups in the Reds coaching staff this week and rumours of player dissatisfaction are rife. While down in Melbourne the Rebels are proudly having their best season EVER! A win tonight has them in uncharted territory while Richard Graham desperately needs a win to keep his employment hopes alive. The Match The match started tentatively with both teams feeling each other out. Nearly five minutes in the Reds were on attack in the Rebels 22 when they turned the ball over. The Rebels immediately moved the ball to the left wing and caught the Reds defence…

The Crusaders are struggling to make the play offs and need a strong run home to seal a spot. And host of their huge names are playing their last home game. The Reds are trying to salvage something, anything from their season. Both the Reds and the Crusaders have an us against the world attitude. This year the Crusaders are doing it better. The Match It only took 91 seconds for the Crusaders to open the scoring. From the kick off the Reds kicked the ball back to the Crusaders and they ran and ran at the reds until Nemani…

It’s hard to believe but the hits keep coming for us Reds fans. The injury to Saia Fainga’a started my week but it was what was to come that shook us more. Firstly there was the news that another Reds heavyweight was looking at a contract overseas. I actually thought Quade Cooper might stay in Brisbane. He loves living in Brisbane and loves the Reds. Hot on the heels of that news were rumours, and I stress they are rumours, that forwards coach Nick Stiles is taking up a position with the Wallabies. And more concerning for many Reds fans…

The Reds have made their annual trip to South Africa and the first team on their list is the high flying Bulls. The Bulls need a win to maintain their top three spot while the Reds win would keep them off the bottom of the table. The Bulls have rested key players for this game. Can the Reds respond to this insult or will their horror season continue? The Match The first ten minutes of the match was of a very high quality. But the bulls managed to score ten points through a fairly technical blocking penalty against Karmichael Hunt…

The Reds 2015 season moves to South Africa and the first team off the rank is the Bulls. The Bulls have been almost unstoppable at Loftus since 2007. Shit I put Bulls, Loftus and 2007 in one sentence! The pain has started pulsating through my chest. No one mention 92-3! How they’re Travelling The Reds have had a crap week. And that’s saying a hell of a lot. The man who was going to save the coaches job is broken for most of the season. Quade Cooper’s return saw an almost instant return to something like organisation in the team.…

Welcome back to the Tuesday top 5 Let’s start with the Whale sized Elephant in the room… 5. The Reds are a rabble There is no glossing over what’s happening in Queensland. With no discernible attacking structure, a leaking defence line and a large injury list it’s easy to believe the Reds season is already over. They have great players like James Horwill, Rob Simmons, Karmichael Hunt and the mercurial Quade Cooper all due back this month. But it’s hard to imagine that even the 2011 Cooper could turn this around. That 2011 team was brilliant but it was also…

I’ve put a couple of the photo sequences I shot on Saturday nights Reds v Waratahs clash into a couple of videos. They show the work that goes into a scrum and the devastation that Will Skelton can create. You also have to compare Skeltons boot size to Nick Frisby’s chest. The Reds had their first win of the year in a scrappy match against the Force whilst the Highlanders went down to the Crusaders in a hard fought battle in Dunedin. James O’Connor gets the cursed 10 jersey this week and there are plenty of Aussie fans eager to see how he will go after his enforced 18 months in European rugby. The Match In the first couple of minutes it seemed like business as usual for the Reds with two ruck penalties firstly gifting the Highlanders field position, then three points. The Highlanders had plenty of possession but couldn’t…
