A complete and utter Rugby tragic, former very average No.4, who loves the game and all that comes with it. Born In NSW, resides in QLD (Gods Sate), known for coming in off the long run up. Remember lads and laddettes :|"It all starts in the second row!" I take the mickey out of everyone, but mostly myself, so don’t get to worked up about the dribbling’s and rantings of an old second rower. Join in the fun!

Well, Happy Monday G&GRs, and what a shit fight this weekend was and is likely to continue to be. So let’s sit down, grab a large cup of Kwoooffeee ☕ and have a look at the circus that’s rugby in Australia. As always this is a fan-run site and any contribution is welcome, feel free to reach out to me at bris@greenandgoldrugby.com.au be it with an article an idea or an opinion piece. There’s also a ‘Submit a Story’ option. So feel free to have a crack as the more the merrier. Let’s grab ourselves an excavator as apparently ‘Rock Bottom” isn’t…
Happy Monday G&GRs. Firstly a big thanks to Reds and Wallabies Fan (RAWF) for stepping up to the plate at short notice and filling in for me last Monday. Kids and bicycles are all I can say. To start this week off we are going to look at some of the things that the Hammer has said recently in “Who Dares Wins”. Then review the results of Hoss’s coaching poll in I ‘See Your Cheikers and Raise You a Schmidt’. Then revisit Tupou’s statement of the bleeding obvious. So settle down with your coffee, pretend you’re working hard, and come…
Welcome to Brisneyland Local’s Mad Monday post World Cup news. And after waiting patiently for four years, yet another World Cup has come and gone. What an RWC of excitement and drama it’s been. Poor teams doing well, and good teams doing poorly. And then there were the Wallabies. For sure this World Cup will live on in infamy. But to quote Connor McLeod of the Clan McLeod, “There can be only one.”, and this World Cup it’s the South Africans. The only Team to win four World Cups, and they have done that by going back-to-back. Wow and what…
In what we thought would be two pretty lopsided matches, we got one rout, and one extremely close bore-a-thon! After last week’s fantastic quarter final games, we get this semi-final letdown. But alas, we’re down to two teams, the Nearlies v the Dutch Dirt Farmers for the big dance. We’ll also take a look at the Kiwi NPC final and round it out with Brisneyland Local’s tip for the RWC 2023 final! So let’s settle down at our desks, make it look like we’re doing some work, and dive in for a good bit of rugby banter. New Zealand 44…
Wow well didn’t the quarter finals kick off with a bang? Two great games between four very evenly-matched teams. Great to watch as a neutral bystander with no dog in the fight. Certainly makes watching the games a whole lot less stressful. Firstly we will examine the Argentina v Wales clash; then take a look at the NZ v Ireland spectacular. Finally, we will wrap the day’s news with a look at the Australian coaching shenanigans. *Note: Monday’s news was written prior to the England V Fiji, and South Africa V France games being played. We will also take a…
Happy sleep deprived Monday, G&GRs. As you’re reading this I’m jetting my way to Singapore for a work conference. But I managed to watch a number of the games this weekend with some very unexpected scorelines. So, let’s dive in and have a look at the games completed, and also look at some of the dross being published about Aus rugby at the moment. Grab a snorkel because we’re going down!*This news article was written prior to the completion of the Japan v Argentina, Tonga v Romania, and Fiji v Portugal. New Zealand 73 defeated Uruguay 0 See KARL’s G&GR…
Well, happy Monday to you all G&GRs. A long weekend and the start of daylight saving, that wonderful institution where we divide our country even further. Mind you in Queensland that extra hour of daylight will fade the curtains and confuse the cows as to when miking time is 🤣! But let’s kick our day off with a review of the weekend’s games and then examine our divided union. *Note – This Daily News summary was written before South Africa v Tonga and Portugal v Australia. Japan 28 defeated Samoa 22 See Nutta’s excellent match Preview and Review here. Six…
Bula vinaka my fellow G&GRs! With the form of both teams coming into this World Cup, I’m not sure if anyone would have been tipping the game that we ended up seeing. But let’s look at the last few times these two teams went head-to-head. On a beautiful day in the premier wine region of Bordeaux let’s sip a cheeky little red and enjoy this one. The Teams Fiji: 15 Ilaisa Droasese, 14 Selesitino Ravutaumada, 13 Waisea Nayacalevu (c), 12 Josua Tuisova, 11 Semi Radradra, 10 Teti Tela, 9 Simione Kuruvoli, 8 Viliame Mata, 7 Levani Botia, 6 Lekima Tagitagivalu, 5…
Well well well! Here we go now. And no this isn’t a jump on the sack Eddie bandwagon article because we lost the Wales game. Most of you G&GRs will know that I’m no fan of Hamish or Eddie and his appointment. As evidenced by here and here! No, this is Bris coming off the long run up, in fact from outside the boundary fence. What did we genuinely think was going to happen? As I mentioned previously in my other two articles, what did we all genuinely think was going to happen here? This was an ill-conceived plan from…
Well happy Monday G&GRs and what an exciting round 3 of RWC. Some great matches out of this round, and potentially we saw a preview of the World Cup final. Also, some massive injury news could greatly affect the hosts’ chances. A couple of cricket score type games balanced out a few of the nailbiters to make this a really exciting round. I’ll also round out Monday’s news with a stunning piece of arrogance from RA and Hamish ‘The Hammer’ McLennan. *Note – This is written before Scotland v Tonga and Wales v Australia. France 96 defeated Namibia 0 Read…
Now don’t be alarmed by the headline, I’m not saying sack Eddie today! But, at the end of the World Cup, he needs to quietly submit his resignation, and exit stage left. If he doesn’t resign, then Phil Waugh needs to have a ‘Come to Jesus’ conversation that says “You can resign or be fired publicly, your choice!” And while Eddie is quietly sulking on the way out the door, take Hamish with you. When did anyone ever think that sacking your coach eight months prior to the RWC was going to bear fruit in any way? The Premise When…
Happy Monday G&GRs! Hope you lot are feeling as sleep-deprived as I am. Other than Australia v Fiji, Round 2 has really been a case of David v Goliath. Tier 1 v the minnows. As generally happens in RWCs, the heavyweights of the pools engage with the second tier. However, we are definitely seeing an improvement in all of the tier 2 nations, and to date, no real cricket scores are being racked up. So anyway let us dive into round two and see what has come out of these games. * Note: this match report was written late Sunday…
The Match In what has to go down as the match of the tournament to date, this blistering encounter between Fiji and Wales was just heart in the mouth stuff. I couldn’t take my eyes off the TV the whole game. Wales had to hang on with their fingernails as they just managed to close out the game against Fiji in an absolutely thrilling match in Bordeaux, winning 32-26 early Monday morning Australian time. The Fijians came oh so close to recovering from being outmuscled by Wales to have them 32-14 down with just seven minutes remaining to go. But…
Wow G&GRs, I don’t know about you lot but too much rugby just isn’t enough! Even the time difference isn’t dampening my enthusiasm. Just love this! It has been an absolutely fascinating opening weekend this RWC2023. So let’s dive in and review the first weekend’s round of matches.* Please note this report was written late Sunday night and will not include the games that were played late (South Africa v Scotland and Wales v Fiji). France 27 defeated New Zealand 13 See the G&GR match report from KARL here. Simply put, this was a classic test match. And a wonderful…
Welcome one and all to G&GRs final countdown to the Big Dance! With minimal rugby on this weekend it gives us a chance to look at some of the other things going on, but also to part with our final thoughts and predictions leading into the kick-off in less than a week! Well, four and a half days to be more precise. We will also have a bit of a gander at the Barbarians (read Aus A) against the Northampton Saints game. Eddie Jones has also stuck the boot into his former employer the RFU! And Fiji are remaining focussed…
Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the new era of G&GR. The number one rugby site for fans written by fans. Come and join us on this journey of fan-written content, where we promise not to toe the political line of Rugby Australia! Well Holy Dooley, G&GR, what a weekend of rugby (please note this is written before Aus plays France). So many games to talk about, a number of shocking results, and upsets. Just a fantastic viewing overall weekend! So in my very sleep-deprived state, let’s dive straight in. There’s absolutely heaps to discuss! Weekend Results South Africa 35 defeated…
Well, Happy Monday RDUs, and what a massive weekend of rugby we had to lead into the world cup. We will have a brief run-through of the results and what impacts, if any, that has had on teams leading into the Bill. I will also discuss Dr. Evils’ presser and the Presser that Hamish “I have to back you because I hired you” McLennan gave alongside Dr. Evil. So let’s sit at our desks, make it look like we are doing work, have a coffee, and let us grab a snorkel because we are going down! Lead Up games France…
Happy Monday RDU’s! Well didn’t Thursday evening’s squad announcement set the cat amongst the pigeons? We will have a look at that at the end of this article in what will definitely be BLL coming in off the long run-up, in Wallabies Dilemmas! Lets just say I am not happy Jan! But firstly, we will roll out the Weekend’s results, in what were two really interesting and contrasting encounters for completely different reasons. And then have a delve into “Lead-up Issues’ that all squads are now facing prior to the kick-off of the Big Dance! So come on Lad’s and…
OK RDU’s! To be honest that loss hurt more than the one from last week. Just soul destroying! As Hoss has mentioned many times before it is the hope that kills you. Sitting up here in Townsville, this Mad Monday rant is going to me being a lot harsher on the Wobs than the week befores’ total capitulation. But firstly we will look at the other results of the many other tests played this weekend; and then I will come in from the long run up and viscerate that performance. Other Results Some really interesting results there over the weekend.…
