A complete and utter Rugby tragic, former very average No.4, who loves the game and all that comes with it. Born In NSW, resides in QLD (Gods Sate), known for coming in off the long run up. Remember lads and laddettes :|"It all starts in the second row!" I take the mickey out of everyone, but mostly myself, so don’t get to worked up about the dribbling’s and rantings of an old second rower. Join in the fun!
Happy Monday G&GRs, and I must say I’m far happier now that we are back to the normal six games per week. The ladder moves normally, and you can track the team’s form without having to read into it whether the bye did or didn’t affect their form, etc etc. Let’s get into the rugby. This round produced some really good and some really bad results for the Aussie teams. Half were good and half were bad. And yes I know before Yowie corrects me we have 5 teams and that would mean 2.5 were good and 2.5 were bad.…
Firstly on this ANZAC round, I would like to pay tribute to all those G&GRs and their family members past and present who have served. Having completed my 36th year of uniformed service, along with KARL (both of us at times having served together) we know the importance of rugby to serving soldiers, sailors, and airmen. And we know the sacrifice our predecessors have made so that we can live the life we do now. Lest We Forget! On to the rugby. Wow and Wow! This round produced some results that most of us didn’t see coming. But what is…
Well, bugger me with a fish fork. What a topsy-turvy round that was. Games that were expected to be close, weren’t. Games that we thought would be floggings, weren’t. But one thing that was common this weekend, numerous teams were seriously let down by skills execution. So let’s dive into Super Rugby Pacific 24 Round Nine, then have a butcher’s at the Super Rugby W semi-finals, and wrap it up with Brisney’s ‘Old Man shouting at Clouds,’ this week’s topic is cards. So sit down and grab a triple shot ☕ of that wonderful magic liquid, and let’s get into…
Happy Monday G&GRs, and I hope you had a wonderful weekend to recover from that short work week with plenty of rugby to keep you entertained. One of the reduced rounds this weekend, but that didn’t stop the spectacle of rugby. The Hong Kong Sevens were on, however, I won’t be covering it as I didn’t get time to watch it, and to be completely honest I know very little about Sevens and only have played one game of it in my life. We will also have a look at where the SRP 24 ladder sits. And to wrap it up…
Good morning G&GRs, and a happy Easter to you all. I hope you all got a good rest and had plenty of relaxing time with your family, good food to eat, vino to drink, and time to watch rugby. And what another stunning round of rugby that was! SRP 2024 just keeps on giving. So let’s recap this round, then have a look at the SRP ladder, and I’ll conclude by giving Stan yet another broadside. On this Easter Monday, when we don’t have to be at work, but sitting relaxing and reading the rugby news with a cup of the…
Good morning G&GRs, and what an exciting and unpredictable round that was. And if we were looking at why, well, as the title says, the home teams had it. Yep, that’s right, every home team won this weekend. Not what we were predicting, and I’m not sure this will always be the case. But will definitely be something to keep an eye on when putting in your tips. Three and a half days to go till we get a mini-break for Easter, and the end of the first term for those still afflicted with those pesky things called children. So set…
Happy Monday G&GRs, and God bless the Queensland People’s Republic of Queensland. And God bless the dirty stinking drunken Oirish, who will be henceforth referred to as the Irish. What wins, but more on that later. We are blessed again this weekend with both the Super Rugby Pacific Round 4 and the Six Nations. How can you not love having this much rugby on? So this happy Monday I’ll review the six matches of SRP 2024 Round 4, and do a quick review of the SRP 24 ladder. Then we’ll dive in, and have a quick look at the three matches in…
Well, what a happy Monday it is G&GRs, especially for those north of the border. With both the Super Rugby Pacific round 3 and the Six Nations on this weekend, it was a weekend where we paid scant attention to our families and dived deep, like really deep, into match after match of scintillating rugby. This morning I’ll review the six matches of SRP 2024, and a quick review of the SRP ladder after three rounds. Then we’ll have a quick look at the three matches in the Northern Hemisphere. And to wrap up it with a quick ‘old man…
Well, Happy Monday G&GRs. And so another Super Round in Melbourne is complete, probably the last ever Melbourne Super Round. Among disappointing crowd numbers were some disappointing results for the Australian franchises, but also some stunning results. Results no one would have ever expected. So like we do every Monday morning when we stagger into the office, bleary-eyed and not caring about work, grab yourself a steaming large cup of ☕ ‘getting my Shit Done Liquid!’ Log on to your computer, set up your work tabs, and then make sure G&GR and Disqus are ready to go. As there will…
Wow and what a Monday G&GRs. More importantly, what a weekend, a weekend where to quote Big Darryl Eastlake from Wide World of Sports, “By Gees, by jingo, by crikey, we have rugby coming out of our arseholes!”. So get yourself a large cup of ☕, pretend you’re logged on and doing work, and let’s dissect what was a wonderful way to welcome rugby back into our lives. To succumb to that addiction that we all have, where everything else in life goes on hold while we get our fix. So let’s get it on! As always this is a…
Happy Monday, my fellow Gaggers. Unlike the last couple of Mondays there are no 6 Nations games, and the SRP trial games that occurred weren’t televised. For rugby addicts like us it was slim pickings over the weekend. But, it’s the calm before the storm. SRP 2024 returns with a bang this coming weekend, enjoy the last bit of quiet time before we get back into it full-time. So no “Procaffinating” * Grab a big cup of ☕, sit down, and enjoy the calm. Because next weekend it is on like Donkey Kong! As always this is a fan-run site…
Happy Monday my fellow Gaggers. It’s another Brisneyland local review of the Six Nations, the SRP Aussie trial games, and then following up with some more general rugby news. With only two weeks to go until SRP starts in earnest and the G&GR faithful gather in God’s country at the sacred ground to watch the Reds flog the hopeless Waratahs. So like every Monday morning, grab your cup of “getting shit done” liquid ☕ and let’s get it on! Happy Monday G&GRs. Firstly a big thanks to Reds and Wallabies Fan (RAWF) for stepping up to the plate at short notice and filling in for me last Monday. Kids and bicycles are all I can say. To start this week off we are going to look at some of the things that the Hammer has said recently in “Who Dares Wins”. Then review the results of Hoss’s coaching poll in I ‘See Your Cheikers and Raise You a Schmidt’. Then revisit Tupou’s statement of the bleeding obvious. So settle down with your coffee, pretend you’re working hard, and come…
Welcome to Brisneyland Local’s Mad Monday post World Cup news. And after waiting patiently for four years, yet another World Cup has come and gone. What an RWC of excitement and drama it’s been. Poor teams doing well, and good teams doing poorly. And then there were the Wallabies. For sure this World Cup will live on in infamy. But to quote Connor McLeod of the Clan McLeod, “There can be only one.”, and this World Cup it’s the South Africans. The only Team to win four World Cups, and they have done that by going back-to-back. Wow and what…
In what we thought would be two pretty lopsided matches, we got one rout, and one extremely close bore-a-thon! After last week’s fantastic quarter final games, we get this semi-final letdown. But alas, we’re down to two teams, the Nearlies v the Dutch Dirt Farmers for the big dance. We’ll also take a look at the Kiwi NPC final and round it out with Brisneyland Local’s tip for the RWC 2023 final! So let’s settle down at our desks, make it look like we’re doing some work, and dive in for a good bit of rugby banter. New Zealand 44…
Wow well didn’t the quarter finals kick off with a bang? Two great games between four very evenly-matched teams. Great to watch as a neutral bystander with no dog in the fight. Certainly makes watching the games a whole lot less stressful. Firstly we will examine the Argentina v Wales clash; then take a look at the NZ v Ireland spectacular. Finally, we will wrap the day’s news with a look at the Australian coaching shenanigans. *Note: Monday’s news was written prior to the England V Fiji, and South Africa V France games being played. We will also take a…
Happy sleep deprived Monday, G&GRs. As you’re reading this I’m jetting my way to Singapore for a work conference. But I managed to watch a number of the games this weekend with some very unexpected scorelines. So, let’s dive in and have a look at the games completed, and also look at some of the dross being published about Aus rugby at the moment. Grab a snorkel because we’re going down!*This news article was written prior to the completion of the Japan v Argentina, Tonga v Romania, and Fiji v Portugal. New Zealand 73 defeated Uruguay 0 See KARL’s G&GR…
Well, happy Monday to you all G&GRs. A long weekend and the start of daylight saving, that wonderful institution where we divide our country even further. Mind you in Queensland that extra hour of daylight will fade the curtains and confuse the cows as to when miking time is 🤣! But let’s kick our day off with a review of the weekend’s games and then examine our divided union. *Note – This Daily News summary was written before South Africa v Tonga and Portugal v Australia. Japan 28 defeated Samoa 22 See Nutta’s excellent match Preview and Review here. Six…
