Make Australian Rugby Great Again

We’ve rested up. Came back to training earlier from the end of year tour. Had our niggling injuries stitched together by top surgeons. Massaged at that booth at the shopping centre. I tried to get someone to look at my groin! No takers. Some old stager’s have moved to the long paddock but we’ve recruited well. Queensland Reds ‘well’. The Dietician is on a one way flight to Bora Bora. We fired the S&C guys weeks ago and paid off the psychologists with a case of Pure Blonde. We’re on a straight run to the start line. I can feel…

The events after have taken the gloss off what was a very good game of rugby. Sure the good guys lost but nothing can be taken away from either team in what was a fantastic contest. A personal message from me to Ewen McKenzie. Good luck with what ever your future holds. You don’t deserve this or the attention certain parts of the media have sent your way. Your contribution to Australian Rugby is appreciated by myself and everyone I know and my respect for you is unchanged. Sully

I’m sick of it. I’m sick of hearing how we haven’t won at such and such a ground since 1917. It doesn’t matter! I’m sick of hearing how big these Saffers are and how their going to smash us. They’re not that big! And there wasn’t a whole lot of smashing last time we played. I’m sick of someone bitching about our scrum before every match. Like the Ref is sitting in his hotel room thinking Victor is right those Aussies cheat in the scrums and the Saffers are amazing. Our scrum is back, get over it. I’m sick of…

If you had asked Wallabies fans at the start of the year if they’d be happy with three wins, a draw and a loss to start the season nearly everyone would have replied in the affirmative. Last week you might have thought the sky was falling given the angst of many Wallaby supporters. This week we have a different challenge. The South African Barbecuing Behemoths have sashayed into Perth for what many of them think is a home game. Big Changes! The Wallabies Ewen McKenzie has resisted changing his forwards and I agree. When the New Zealanders get in the…

It’s all on the line for Australia tonight. A win or a draw will keep their Bledisloe dreams alive. A loss will add another chapter to the Eden park hoodoo and consign this group of wallabies to the same ridicule as the ones from the twelve previous seasons. The Match Roman Poite waited 14 seconds before he awarded his first penalty and he continued to blow them at regular intervals for the first 12 minutes of the match when he sent Ritchie McCaw to the bin for playing the ball on the ground. Australia kicked the resulting penalty but the…

This was my first time shooting at the SFS. The afternoon sun and the shadows from the stands created a few issues and I’ve had to heavily edit a few pictures to make them presentable. I also used a 300 mm lens for the first time. All in all a great learning experience on a beautiful afternoon and a fantastic rugby match. As always you can click on the main image to see the larger photo and then use your mouse or your arrow keys to navigate.

West v Souths By Bulldog Bob It was another case of so close yet so far for Wests this weekend as fell agonisingly short being beaten by Souths 34-25 in round 9 of Qld Premier Rugby. The game started off in a tentative fashion, with both teams having their fair share of ball and territory. It took ten minutes of see-sawing between each end of the field before wests posted the first points of the match via a penalty kick of the boot of scrumhalf Tim Smith. However Souths aren’t the kind of team to be repelled for long…
