Make Australian Rugby Great Again

We’ve found a pretty good chat program that could be great for live events. It’s called slack and we are test driving it today for the Waratahs v Brumbies semi final There are three ways to use it: 1. The web page – https://gagr.slack.com/messages/tahs-v-brumbies/ 2. The android app – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Slack&hl=en 3. The iOs app – https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/slack-team-communication/id618783545?mt=8 The only catch is you have to register an account, and to do that we need your email address. If you’re keen to have a look, and to chat during tonight’s match, post your email address below. We’ll send an invite and delete your…

This was my first time shooting at the SFS. The afternoon sun and the shadows from the stands created a few issues and I’ve had to heavily edit a few pictures to make them presentable. I also used a 300 mm lens for the first time. All in all a great learning experience on a beautiful afternoon and a fantastic rugby match. As always you can click on the main image to see the larger photo and then use your mouse or your arrow keys to navigate.

West v Souths By Bulldog Bob It was another case of so close yet so far for Wests this weekend as fell agonisingly short being beaten by Souths 34-25 in round 9 of Qld Premier Rugby. The game started off in a tentative fashion, with both teams having their fair share of ball and territory. It took ten minutes of see-sawing between each end of the field before wests posted the first points of the match via a penalty kick of the boot of scrumhalf Tim Smith. However Souths aren’t the kind of team to be repelled for long…

I’d like to start with an apology. You may have noticed that we didn’t write a review for this game. That was my job this week. I was at the match taking photos and rely on my recording to do the match review as looking through the camera lens rarely give you a big picture view of the game. Anyway when I got home there was no recording! Hence no review. In my head I have this feeling that the Reds were pretty good for 60 minutes and truly terrible for 20. I wasn’t going to write a review based…

It seems like we talk about last chances for the Queensland Reds every week. This week’s game looms as a huge test as they take on the inform Hurricanes. This is the Reds first trip to New Zealand this year and they will need to perform like the Reds of old to take the points. While they have shown glimpses they have been all too fleeting this year. Who will take the points? Can the Reds get ‘up’ for James Horwills 100th match? Or will the Hurricanes continue on their march up the New Zealand conference ladder? The Match The…

5. The Empire strikes back Well the Rebels are hardly an empire. But sadly the Force’s winning streak has come to an end. In my opinion it was the ankle injury to Alby Mathewson that finally broke the proverbial Camels back. The little half back has been on fire lately and I think he was the form nine in the Australian conference until the injury. This week the Force face the Bulls in front of their ‘sea of blue’. The bulls are having a horror tour but that doesn’t negate the size of the men running around in the single…
