Next – what about the same measure over the last two months in Super Rugby (or eight rounds)?
We know most of the 23 man squad missed the final round of Super Rugby played before the mid-year break as they were already in camp but here’s what the numbers show for those last eight rounds (I’ve included the Reds match against the Lions which was played on the weekend of the final Super Rugby round).
On this measure the percentage of match time is lower – only 68 per cent for the 23 man squad and again, it’s the bench players that have missed the most match time with only 58 per cent.
The highest for any player was 88 per cent for Will Genia, Michael Hooper and Israel Folau.
The bench results are obviously dragged down by Kurtley Beale and Pat McCabe but Saia Faingaa only played 56 per cent in that period and Sekope Kepu only 59 per cent.
Of the starting XV, Berrick Barnes played 21 per cent, James O’Connor 47 per cent, Digby Ioane 60 per cent and Wycliff Palu 61 per cent.
