Scrumhalf: Matt Giteau
Gits only played a season of sevens as an 18 year old, and I got to travel on his first trip as a team manager to Argentina and Chile and he was a revelation, playing against world-class players. We played him in the sweeper role and some of the try saving tackling was unbelievable. And then his ability to get back up and get the ball was superb. Tactically also he picked the game up very well and it was easily one of the best debuts I’ve seen. He’d later come back and play the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne alongside Chris Latham and Scotty Fava and was just as good.
