Steve Timms, He likes watching the odd game of Rugby, occasionally writes about it.. Proud member of the original Mudchooks.
Gagger, Lance Free and Mr Timms wang on about another week of Super Rugby that saw the Brumbies fall by the wayside, the Rebels get their first away win (over the Force, with the squirts), the Tahs beat the Chiefs, and the Reds sneak home over the Lions. The issues of the week are dissected, and the round ahead previewed. The digital dummies somehow overcome baffling technical difficulties and a lack of Moses to get a show together. The theme song is Napoleon XIV’s “Coming To Take Me Away”, a special request from Berrick Barnes. You can listen directly here:…
One of our favourites here at G&GR turned in a man-of-the-match performance in the game that also saw him become a fully contracted Reds player. This was enough to earn Beau Robinson another reward: his very own highlights video. He was everywhere, making busts, running support, making big hits and generally playing himself into the ground. There was also a nice hit on Kabamba Floors, that showed his earlier work on Jerry Collins was no one-off (that vid is below for nostalgic purposes). Enjoy! For the second time this season the Reds took to Suncorp for a daytime match, drawing 19,579 punters to see them host the Cheetahs on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Thankfully in the month that has passed the temperatures have dropped a little, so much so that Link felt comfortable promoting assistant water boy James Horwill past the bench and straight into the starting side and the captaincy. The Cheetahs were up from their base on the Gold Coast, fresh from their clinical display against an inept Waratahs side. With no changes to the starting line-up, they took to the…
Gagger, Moses, MrTimms, James “Big Kev” Horwill get together to wang on about another round of SupeRugby and look forward to the coming round. Naturally, we grill Kevvy and find out what makes him tick.
Friday night sees the Suncorp return of the Reds. It has been nearly a month since they played in front of the Reds First XV (the name of their membership drive, which will be pretty close to the target come kick-off) and a lot has changed since they managed to sneak the game away from the Force on that hot afternoon. In the interim, they managed to get a monkey off their back by getting their first win in Canberra. On the flip side, they were pantsed quite thoroughly by arch-rivals the Waratahs. That’s a couple of things the Reds…
MrTimms, Gagger, Moses, BrumbyJack and The Brown Hornet wang on about another round of Super Rugby in which no Aussie team won, though one didn’t lose… and look forward to the coming round. We’ve used the Dire Straits track “Love Over Gold” as a theme, an ode to Sharpie and his ARU top-up. RugbyReg and I got out to Ballymore last Thursday and got some footage of some of the people around the great Classic Rugby for Christchurch event. Hear from Kevvy Horwill, Scott “Razor” Robertson, Quade Cooper, and of course Reg and I discuss the event. Apologies for the sound — the little camera with built-in mic had trouble with the ambient noise. Now with added highlights… …And apparently we need a tripod too.
Reg, Gagger, Moses, Barbarian, BrumbyJack and MrTimms wang on about another round of Super Rugby — one that saw red cards flourished and the Reds lone winners among the Aussie teams — and look forward to the coming round. We’ve used the Split Enz track “I See Red” as a theme, an ode to both the Reds’ victory and the colour of Sidey’s card. We have opted for minimal editing in order to get the final version out quickly. Let us know if you think it is OK, or if you would prefer to wait for a more polished edit…
Reg, Gagger, BrumbyJack and MrTimms discuss the sacking of Andy Friend from the Brumbies and review Round 2 of SupeRugby and look forward to the upcoming round.
Our lofty technical ambitions may have tried to hinder us, but we prevailed. I can also assure you none of the panel members had a stroke, however much it might sound like it. Listen to Gagger, Lance, Brumby Jack, Moses, Scott and I look back on the first round of Super Rugby, as well as ahead to the Aussie squad prospects in this year’s revamped Super Rugby competition. We also have Spikhazza on as a special guest, with the first “Rant of the Week” You can listen directly here Podcast Powered By Podbean Download it here (right click and save)…
Watching the game at Suncorp Stadium, I was glad the air conditioning in the press box wasn’t damaged in the Floods, it was HOT. There was not a chance the Force were going to come out and do anything other than be the Reds bitches. However, no one sent the memo west. Both teams came out and showed good intent, but it was the force forwards who showed the early dominance. The teams traded penalties, but it was the force who got on top, with Quade only getting two opportunities at goal, and slotting both, J’OC got 5 opportunities, missing…
As we ride the buzz of the Waratahs’ great opening to the season, we thought you might like to see this. All the tries, with bonus stink.

With the introduction of the Melbourne Rebels to the Super rugby competition, there are probably a few folk from down south who have been raised on a diet consisting of the World’s Greatest Game, played only in Melbourne (which is the world’s sporting capital, so maybe, at a stretch that works), so things are going to be a little confusing for you. In order to ease the transition for you, we at Green and Gold Rugby have put together a little list of some of the terms you may encounter as you set out on your journey with the Game…
When Reg had his day training with the Reds (Here), I wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to capture it on film. I know you have already had the Quade tackle teaser, but this is a longer edit of the experience. Link was pretty hard, and like a security guard in one of Kevin Rudds favourite establishments, he was not keen for any of the important calls and stuff to be recorded. Never-the-less, I smuggled the camera in using Reg’s handbag and managed to capture a bit. You need to keep in mind this is my first video edit, so…
RugbyReg, MrTimms, Gagger and Moses are joined by a very special guest in World Cup winning Wallaby tight head Andrew Blades as they look back over the year that was and give a little thought the the dreams and wishes for the next year.
Hosted by MrTimms; Juan Cote, Lance Free and Moses look over the French test and the EOYT in general and the way we have positioned ourselves heading into 2011. Remember, if you love the podcast… well, even if you think it’s okay for a few hacks, head on over to iTunes and give us a glowing review and rating. Cheers lads and ladettes. Edit: Currently investigating why it is not showing up in itunes, will keep you posted. Further Edit: It is now in itunes. Apologies for the delay.

The season-defining match? Seems a bit harsh in a season we have had breakthrough wins on the high veldt and against the Blacks, but here it is. For a one-off test match, there did feel like there was more at stake than just retaining the Trophée des Bicentenaries. If the forwards could come anywhere near parity it would be a pass mark, and the oft-touted back line only needed to play with some adventure to put on a couple of tries and we could all get ourselves to the beach happy, knowing it had been a good year. Anything other…
