The CA Brumbies have named an unchanged line up for the 4th week in a row to take on the Sharks on Saturday night. The Canberra based side will be hoping that continuity and momentum will give them the edge over the Sharks who have not won in Canberra since a 41-23 win in 1998. The Brumbies will be looking to play some entertaining rugby to capture the attention of the fans they felt they let down last week in not capturing the elusive bonus point. Along with the Force, the Brumbies are the only teams yet to register a…

The CA Brumbies have fumbled their way to a 24-13 win over the Lions at Canberra Stadium in front of a crowd of 13,177. In an ordinary game that was matched by very ordinary weather, the Lions came to Canberra without a win in their previous games in the Capital but demonstrated they were prepared to throw the ball around in the early stages in a game they were expected to struggle in. Second half highlights at bottom of post Matt Giteau showed some early nerves when put the kick off out on the full; it was a preview…

The Brumbies have returned to Canberra after 3 games away in Perth and South Africa and are looking to put forward a good showing in their first home game of the 2010 season. The game also marks the return of Justin Harrison and Matt Giteau to Canberra for their second stint with the Brumbies. The team has trained well this week with a shortened preparation and has shaken off the effects of jet lag and lingering stomach illnesses that some players had picked up.

The CA Brumbies have snatched a heart stopping 19-17 win against the Stormers at Newlands. In a game that was riddled with handling errors at crucial times, neither team looked like coming away with the win until a George Smith intercept and try under the posts with 2 minutes on the clock gave the Brumbies hope of a win. The game was a mix of attacking play and handling mistakes which didn’t give either team any continuity. Very rarely did a team pass 7 phases when on attack. Referee Craig Joubert was laying down the law at scrum and ruck …

The CA Brumbies have moved on to Cape Town for the second match of their African tour against the in form Stormers.  After a 2nd half they’d rather forget against the Bulls last week, the Brumbies will be looking  for redemption; hoping for a similar first half effort that had them leading the 2009 Champions. A display for the full 80 minutes could give them a victory at Newlands for the first time since 2004. Ill discipline has been a concern for the Brumbies camp in the opening 2 rounds and this will need to be addressed to ensure they…

The Bulls have scored an emphatic 50-32 win over the Brumbies at Loftus Versfeld. A man of the match performance from Morne Steyn contributed a personal haul of 35 points. The game was one the Brumbies had targeted for a win as they got their 2 game African tour underway, but once again ill discipline and the effects of playing altitude took their toll in a game that lived up to the cliche as a game of two halves. The Brumbies got off to good start with a first minute penalty to Stirling Mortlock for an obstruction, gaving the team…

The CA Brumbies have made 3 changes to their team which take on the Bulls at Loftus at the excellent TV rating time  of 2:05am on Sunday. The Brumbies have named a side that includes Wallabies Matt Giteau and Rocky Elsom, after both were left out of the match day squad in last weeks win against the Force due to injury. After a slight injury scare during the week, Giteau will take his place at fly half at the expense of Matt Toomua, who has been relegated to the bench due to his

Round 1 of the Super 14 has come and gone with a fair amount of blood, sweat and tears- and that’s just from the Reds v Tahs game! The promises of expansive play and running rugby were trumpeted in the pre-season by everyone from head honcho John O’Neill down to the respective coaches and captains of the Australian teams. After watching replays of most of the games, I couldn’t help but notice the amount of penalty goals scored in the first round. A quick analysis shows that

The ACT Brumbies have defeated the Western Force 24-15 at ME Bank Stadium in Perth tonight. Both teams were struck down with injuries in the lead up to the match, with Rocky Elsom ruled out on game day for the Brumbies after a recurrence of his hamstring injury along with Mark Bartholomeusz and Cameron Shepherd for the Force. The Force shuffled their backline with Sam Harris coming into flyhalf , but his inexperience was evident at times and it’s safe to say it wasn’t one his best games with numerous kicks out on the full. Some were questioning why James O’Connor…

The ‘Super Star’ CA Brumbies take on the Western Force on Friday night at the new home ground of the Force, ME Bank Stadium, in what is shaping as an blockbuster match to start their respective 2010 Super 14 seasons. The return of Matt Giteau and Josh Valentine to their former stomping ground has lost some of the excitement due to Giteau’s quadricep injury, which will more than likely rule him out. The Brumbies off season recruits have been well documented and most experts are tipping them to come close in winning the Super 14 in 2010, which would mean…
