The Crusaders have quietly snuck into the top six. After a terrible start they have racked up five wins and three losses and sit just three points off the Chiefs. Who still lead the New Zealand conference despite their one point loss to the Canterbury side on the weekend. It’s only the Chiefs two miracle draws and five bonus points keeping them in front of the most successful Super Rugby team in history.
The Crusaders were the first side to win a match after crossing the Indian Ocean this season and they backed it up by defeating the Cheetahs the following week. The win against the Chief made that three in a row.
Now here’s where it gets really scary. Richie McCaw is due back from his thumb injury any day now and Dan Carter is back in July. What that will do to the already firing Crusaders is anyone guess.
