Lets face it. The Waratahs started the season poorly. But their mid season form is exceptional. New recruit Michael Hooper has found his place in the Tahs backrow and is back in top form. Likewise Bernard Foley has had a good run in the 10 jersey and is steering the team around exceptionally well. And of course the walking headline Israel Folau has found his feet in the #15 jersey and has started to tear teams apart.
But after so many seasons of playing crash ball rugby one wonders what will happen when a team pressures them into mistakes? I don’t think we’ll have to wait long to see if they hold firm or revert to type. No team can pile pressure on quite like the Brumbies and I’m certain it’s part of their plan this weekend.
The final word
The Australian Conference has 3 teams performing well and 2 sides showing signs of being nearly there. When you think about it, it’s probably the best it’s looked in years. But there’s a long way to go and plenty of room to improve for every side.
