The match between Kinross Wolloroi and Oakhill College held special significance as both an important round of the ISA competition and the Waratah Shield. Oakhill, the form side of the competition were favourites, but Kinross, undefeated to date had always given Oakhill trouble. Playing in front of the 2004 old boys, the last team to win the ISA, added support and expectation to the large crowd.

From the kickoff it was obvious Kinross had come to play. Dominant at the breakdown, creative with the ball and benefitting from territory gained through probing kicks, the boys fromo Orange had the home team rattled. First points went to Kinross through a penalty after just 1 minute to Tom Bristow.
Oakhill responded 10 minutes later with a good try to centre Woodward off a clever Ash Goddard pass. Oakhill scored again 5 minutes later through half Matt Gonzales. The Kinross kicking game put Oakhill under pressure and a scrum win from a kick fumble saw Kinross score in the 28th minute through winger Lucas Ferrari. Once again Oakhill attacked but the Kinross defense held until halftime and at 10-8, there was talk of an upset.
Given a rev at halftime, Oakhill came out aggressively and brutal defense saw Blacklock swoop on a loose ball which went to Cameron Daniels on the wing to score in the corner. Woodward converted. From the restart, poor communication saw a knock on by Oakhill. A sharp move down the short side saw Kinross number ten Tom Bristow score out wide, bringing the score to 17-13. With a upset back on the cards, Kinross lifted again and forced Oakhill into uncharacteristic errors.
A Woodward penalty put the difference out to a converted try. At the 15 minute mark Oakhill finally won a line out and Daniels crossed wide out for his second. At last Oakhill hit their groove and for the next 20 minutes put on an exhibition of attacking rugby, piling on tries to Daniels, Anderson and Casey with Woodward converting 2 and the popular tight head, James Benton converting the last from 15 meters in from touch.
Full time Oakhill 46 Kinross 13, but Kinross could hold their heads up, having been the only team to really rattle Oakhill this season.
Best for Oakhill were 9 Gonzales, 10 Houlihan 13 Canning, and the tight 5, Holden, Blacklock, Benton, Linnaker, Anderson and Goddard.
For Kinross, tight head Peter Brooker had a huge game as did fly half Bristow and centre Arthur Hancock
