The Western Force kicked off their 2025 Super Rugby Women’s pre-season with an impressive 45-6 victory over Rugby Victoria in a trial game at Wanneroo Rugby Club. The Force dominated the first half, scoring five tries to lead 27-0 at halftime. Despite numerous player changes in the second half, the Force maintained their momentum, ultimately scoring eight tries in total.
Australia A representative Brooklyn Teki Joyce was a standout, scoring two late tries to seal the win. Fijian Olympic sevens star Adi Vani Buleki made a memorable debut, opening the scoring with a try that showcased her speed and skill. This strong start bodes well for the Force, who are preparing for their Super W opener against the ACT Brumbies on March 1 at HBF Park.
Next, the Force will travel to Brisbane for a trial game against the Queensland Reds on February 15. In the match against Rugby Victoria, Buleki’s early try down the left wing set the tone, although Grace Freeman’s conversion attempt was thwarted by the wind. Scrum-half Georgia Cormick added a try with a clever play, and Taylor Waterson scored after a powerful rolling maul. Wallaroos hooker Hera-Barb Malcolm Heke and Black Ferns loose forward Pia Tapsell also contributed to the first-half scoring, with Freeman successfully converting Tapsell’s try.
Rugby Victoria managed to score their only try early in the second half, but the Force quickly responded. Wanneroo back-rower Tamika Jones and Kalamunda fly-half Nicole Ledington extended the lead, with Ledington converting for a 34-5 advantage. Teki Joyce’s two tries in the corner, along with a successful conversion, rounded out the Force’s commanding 46-5 win.
