1. Return of Palmer
The Brumbies have added former Wallaby and scrum coach, Dan Palmer, to their 27 player squad (fifth Prop) for their two week tour of South Africa. Despite unlikely to make the match-day-23, let alone run on at any stage, it would be a remarkable return for a player who retired three years ago and would further add to the list of Brumbies miraculously returning, such as Huxley, Rathbone, George Smith and Vaea.
Palmer, 26 years old, is currently 97kgs (20kgs under his previous playing weight) and hence would be unlikely to provide the same stability he once did at scrum time despite being described by head coach Larkham, “as strong as he was when he played.”
All this makes me wonder if a training head clash this week between Robbie Coleman and Christian Lealiifano would see Larkham dusting off the boots for once last appearance for the John Farnham Brumbies.
