The back three
15. Christian Cullen
I couldn’t think of anyone I would rather see running it back for my all-time Baa-baa team. I loved the way Cullen used to run- so upright and effortless, and yet so unbelievably quick. His failure to develop a kicking game ultimately cost him his spot in the All Blacks, but it won’t cost him for the Barbarians, who love ball in hand rugby!
14. Rupeni Caucaunibuca
Brings a bit of physicality to the back three, and is the team’s one Fijian representative. At his best he was a scintillating mix of pace and brute force, and summed up everything that’s good about Pacific Islands rugby. I still have flashbacks to the 2003 World Cup, where I remember him carving up all and sundry.
11. Takudzwa Ngwenya
Going with the minnow vibe again here, with Zee Ngwenya from the USA. A player who brings one thing to the team: pace. Pace to buuuuurn. This bloke was more than a World Cup one-hit wonder, thanks to a stellar career for Biarritz in the Top 14. Certainly not one you would want to kick to, but you could say that for the entire back 3, couldn’t you!
