Good news everyone. After 10 years the light at the end of the tunnel seems to be just that: a light, not an oncoming train.

Personally, I had a great year of rugby starting with a trip to Roma (highly recommend). I caught up with the G&GR boys at the Reds v Tahs game. I also got to a few more matches while watching heaps of community games and then the northern tour. I hope your year was as good.

I thought it might be a good time to do a quick review of the Wallabies tests and look forward to the 2025 Super Rugby season kick off, only 71 days away .

Wallabies results 2024 and random thoughts

Walliabes v Wales Win 25 to 16

Wallabies v Wales Win 36 to 26

Wallabies v Georgia Win 40 to 29

Wallabies v South Africa Loss 7 to 33

Wallabies v South Africa Loss 12 to 30

Wallabies v Argentina Win 20 to 19

Wallabies v Argentina Loss 27 to 67

Wallabies v New Zealand Loss 28 to 31

Wallabies v New Zealand Loss13 to 33

Wallabies v England Win 42 to 37

Wallabies v Wales Win 52 to 20

Wallabies v Scotland Loss 13 to 27

Wallabies v Ireland Loss 19 to 22

The facts are in 2024 we are 13 games for 6 wins and 7 losses, so we are what our record says we are. In 2023 were were a hot mess so the players must be applauded for rolling up their sleeves and getting better. It’s amazing what proper rugby coaches can do.

If you dig a little deeper and put some nuance around the results from the spanking against Argentina to the loss against Ireland, all in the meat of our schedule Australia have improved substantially. Australia now goes deep into games. In the game against Scotland we hung together when they were rampant whereas against Argentina we lost all shape and paid the price. In the pod I gave the Northern tour a 7.5 out of 10. Australia won two games, which most fans would’ve taken six weeks ago, and led the Irish at half time.

Super Rugby only 71 days and counting

.
