Link questions Smith Selection
While vast majority of Wallaby supporters seem to be clutching to George Smith playing against the Lions as a lifeline, Ewen McKenzie has witten an article in support of Gill and Hooper’s selection. His core argument seems to be “but it’s not fair on the poor young blokes”. What do you reckon?[/one_half]

Madness has a shot
Great news that Hugh McMeniman’s shoulder injury isn’t as bad as originally thought and he should be back in time to play the Lions Dirt Trackers for the Force. This would also give him a second Super Rugby match against a depleted Tahs side to show what he’s up to. You’d think he’d have to play out of his skin for a crack as a squad add on to the 25 announced May 25th.

Jonny turned down Lions
Following all the “will he won’t he” stories (which we’ve also followed) surrounding his potential selection over the last weeks, it turns out that Jonny Wilkinson turned down a spot in the squad.
Gatland said, “I rang Jonny on Monday to sound him out. I was really impressed with the way he played for Toulon against Saracens. I asked him if he could tour and he said he wasn’t available.” Apparently Wilko is having a hard time of it keeping his body in one piece and is focussing on getting Toulon through HCup and Top14 finals.
Maybe this explains the empty third fly half spot in the Lions Squad – or is it mind games?
