4. Tah Talk
How fucking good were they? Very fucking good. The Kings are no slouches (just ask the Brumbies, Rebels and Force) and while they had an off night they didn’t deserve the shellacking they received.
The thing that got me about the Tahs performance was the quality of basic skills on display- passes in front of the man, good lines of support, no dropped balls, no forced offloads under pressure. These are the skills us Tahs fans have been wanting to see for years, and it was a happy day to see it all come together.
The key to it all has been the rise of Bernard Foley. I’ve said it before, but the way he has been running the Tahs backline is outstanding. No longer do we see the ball kept in the forwards for 10+ phases while the backs scratch themselves. Foley organises, creates and distributes and loves to get his hands on the ball. In short he is the best Tahs 10 since the early days of Kurtley Beale.
The litmus test will come this weekend though. Despite a 5-5 record the mood among Tahs fans is as high as it has been in years, and a good home showing against the Stormers is essential. A good win will ensure high crowds from here until seasons end, but a poor loss will have us all wondering if anything was really achieved in the Republic.
