Path to the final
The Pampas XV, appearing for the first time in this development tournament, secured their place in the final by beating Tonga A 47-20 in Canberra on Wednesday. They also beat ACT A, Gen Blue (Waratahs A), and Samoa A to finish undefeated in Pool B. They gained a try-scoring bonus point in three out of their four matches.
The Reds A side finished equal top of Pool A with five-time defending champions the Fiji Warriors on 11 points. Both teams won two of their three matches—as did Force A, who secured fewer bonus points to finish on 10. Under the tie-break rules, head-to-head results were considered before the for-and-against, so Reds A advanced to the Pacific Rugby Cup final due to their 22-19 win over the Warriors in their pool match.
