Rebels defence still a weakness
With the off-season ahead of them surely there is a focus within the Rebels camp on shoring up what has been a perennially leaky defense. Time and time again this young team has proven that they can explode in an instant and truly impose themselves on the opposition try line, but they have also proven that they don’t handle their own medicine very well. The Rd. 20 match against the Highlanders was a classic case of Rebels syndrome. While they put 38 points on the boys from Invercargill they also conceded 37 while missing over 20 per cent of their tackles in the process. That is one in every five tackles. Unacceptable.
