Wallabies coach Michael Cheika has named a 40 man squad for the upcoming Rugby Championship tournament that features overseas based players Matt Giteau and Drew Mitchell from Toulon.
The squad contains a number of uncapped players – Rory Arnold, Samu Kerevi, Taqele Naiyaravoro and Toby Smith but there is no place for props Benn Robinson, Ben Alexander or backs Nick Cummins and James O’Connor.
Reds prop Greg Holmes makes a comeback to the Wallaby squad for the first time since 2007 after a strong year with the Queensland Reds. Also back in the squad are Dean Mumm, who joined the Waratahs in the latter part of the Super Rugby season, and fellow Waratah Dave Dennis who missed the 2014 season following a knee injury.
The squad has a split of 18 forwards and 22 backs with the Waratahs and Brumbies having 14 and 11 players respectively whilst the Reds have 8, the Rebels 3 and the Force 2 in the 40-man squad.
The squad will assemble on the Sunshine Coast this Sunday in the leadup to the opening Test match against the Springboks in Brisbane on July 18.
