5. And the winner will be chosen from……
Half way through the Super comp and I reckon there are only five teams who can win it – Chiefs, Hurricanes, Waratahs, Brumbies or Stormers. If the Brumbies lose the next two games then it’ll be down to four. If you want to win the comp you have to avoid a trip to SA in the semi’s and be higher up the table than the top SA team so you can avoid finals in SA.
I think the only teams with that chance are the five mentioned. If the Stormers finish first on the table they will be very hard to beat at home; but their inability to score four tries in one game is legendary and they are very unlikely to overhaul the points deficit to the Chiefs and Hurricanes they currently have.
Last year it was the Waratahs. Who will it be this year?
Bonus points from here on in are an absolute MUST for every one of those five, with the Hurricanes in the box seat because they’ve had both their byes (as have the Waratahs and Highlanders). They have also done their SA road trip. My top six are those five teams with the Highlanders in the unwinnable sixth spot.
