4. Waratahs hit the JackPot…
It’s finally happened! Australians have come up with a nickname for the South African steamroller they call Jacques Potgieter and it’s a beauty. JackPot is in awe inspiring form for the Tahs. His bollocking runs and flying clean outs are making many old forwards nod in knowing appreciation. You know the one that says ‘that’s how we did it when I was a boy’.
But seriously JackPots form is allowing another Tahs strike weapon, Michael Hooper to move around with more freedom. And that’s never a good thing. To top it all off the ex Bulls player has added a not to shabby passing game to his arsenal. Now defenders have to not only deal with the one man wreaking machine running at them at full pace but cover the runners in support. These are decisions I’m glad I never have to make.
Which brings me to the big question. What can Australian forwards learn from the intensity and passion JackPot brings to the game and by all accounts to training? What have the Waratahs learnt just by having him around this year?
