4. Is that it for Brad?
Midway through the second half of the Highlanders game, 39 year old Brad Thorn called the trainer over to check on his heavily strapped right bicep. After removing the strapping Thorn flexed his arm and walked over to the referee. He asked ‘Are you okay” he replied ‘I’d better go off’ and walked off the field.
On Monday news reports confirmed that he had torn his bicep muscle and was out for the season. Was that the last game for a man who is a legend in two sports?
Lets take a minute to have a look at Brad Thorn’s career.
200 NRL games, 14 state Of Origins and 8 Test Matches.
147 Rugby games, 60 test matches.
He’s won NRL titles, a Super Rugby title, a Heinekin cup and a world cup along the way. All as a tight forward. An amazing effort by anyones standards.
I for one hope that wasn’t the last time I watch him play but if it is I’d like to say. Thank you Brad Thorn. I have been entertained, I have been inspired and I have loved every moment I have watched you play.
