Chiefs 24 – 22 Sharks
by ‘Brumby Runner’
In a game that had the hallmarks of an easy win for the home side, the Chiefs battled to overcome the Sharks and were outscored three tries to two. Uncharacteristically, the Chiefs made a large number of mistakes throughout, while the Sharks didn’t seem to want to play with ball in hand.
The Chiefs opened the scoring with a well-worked try to No 13 Seta Tamanivula off a nice short pass from Anton Lienert-Brown (12). The conversion by Aaron Cruden had them up 7-0.
Penalty goals by Garth April (Sharks 10) and Cruden were followed by an unconverted try to Chief’s No 8 Michael Leitch.
A Sharks’ rolling maul then saw No 2 Kyle Cooper cross and the score was 15 – 10 in favour of the Chiefs.
Scoring in the first half finished with an impressive 22 metre stepping run by April. Again the conversion was missed and at half-time the score was 15 – 15.
The second half saw a succession of penalties which allowed Cruden to take the score to 24 – 15 before the Sharks scored another rolling maul try to Chiliboy Ralepelle (replacement front-rower). April’s conversion brought the score to 24 – 22 where it remained.

Hurricanes 50 – 17 Lions
by ‘mst’
The game opened at a frenetic pace with the Hurricanes early attacking opportunities punctuated by handling errors, and the Lions being denied close to the line by some good defensive work.
The Hurricanes opened the scoring with a great team try at the 12-minute mark, shortly followed by a second try from an intercept.
At the 19-minute mark, the Hurricanes crossed the line again off a set piece play taking the score to 21-0.
After a successful penalty by Beauden Barrett, the Lions finally got on the scoreboard with a try at the 31-minute mark. The Hurricanes then scored from an intercept and soon after closed out the half with a try from a bollocking run down the sideline to take the score to 36-5.
The Lions started their fight back from a recovered attacking kick crossing for a try at the 46-minute mark then at 61 minutes running in another down the sideline taking the score to 36-17.
The Hurricanes snuffed out the Lions fight back with two more tries to close out the game and take a bonus point win. The score board showing 7 tries to 3, with the final score 50 – 17.

Jaguares 73 – 27 Kings
by Scott Rea
After a tough four weeks on the road, the Jaguares were happy to be back in Buenos Aires (particularly against fellow cellar dwellers the Kings) and celebrated their second win for the season and their first at home.
Both sides played free flowing attacking rugby with some turnovers thrown into the mix (Kings 19 to Jaguares 11) plus tries for both teams from driving mauls from line outs.
Juan Martin Henandez (12) chipped and regathered as the Jaguares capitalised on a Kings’ turnover to score first. Santiago Cordero (14) scored after nine Jaguares phases. Leonardo Senatore (8) then scored after a break from Nicolas Sanchez (10) and Sanchez scored his own try to celebrate his 50th point for the Jaguares.
Chris Cloete (6) scored the Kings first try after 25 minutes. Agustin Creevy (2) and Manuel Montero (11) made it six first half Jaguares tries and Stefan Watermeyer (13) scored from an intercept for the Kings.
Half-time: Jaguares 40 – 15 Kings.
The Jaguares continued to dominate in the second half. Matias Alemanno (4), Emiliano Bottelli (15) Martin Landajo (9) and Senatore (8) scored twice more for Jaguares while Thembelani Bhoti (7) and Steven Sykes (4) scored tries for the Kings.
