The ARU have announced significant changes to their contracting policy in regards to selection eligibility for the Wallabies.
Effective immediately, Australian players who are based overseas will be eligible to represent the Wallabies provided they meet the criteria of more than 60 Test caps for Australia and have held a professional contract with the ARU for at least seven years.
The move follows an ARU board meeting on Monday and signals the first time overseas based players will be available for Wallabies selection.
As part of the revised policy, players who return to Australia from overseas and commit to a two year Super Rugby deal will be immediately available for Wallabies selection upon their return.
The new deal means a whole host of players like Matt Giteau, Adam Ashley-Cooper and Will Genia could be seen in the Green and Gold jersey beyond the 2015 season following the World Cup.
