3. No punch is acceptable!
There has been a lot of talk about Stephen Moore’s punch to Ed Quirks ribs in Friday nights Reds v Brumbies game. A lot of punters have justified Moores actions with comments like ‘he was holding him’ and ‘he didn’t hit him that hard’.
But here’s the point that comes down to the crux of the matter.
There is absolutely no excuse to resort to violence in our society
You don’t jump out of your car and smack someone in the ribs when they cut you off in traffic. You don’t chase that surfer up the beach and smack him in the ribs after he drops in on you. And you don’t smack another player in the ribs when he holds your jersey. The first two incident probably would have involved the police and a court date. In the incident on Friday night ‘the judge’, referee Steve Walsh, couldn’t even be bothered talking to the parties involved. To me that was the biggest crime of the night.
