Greetings from Barcelona! We don’t have a game this week so I’ve made the trip to soak in a bit of culture. A bit like Melbourne, no one here knows who Quade Cooper is!
Last week we (Racing Club Narbonne) had a narrow victory. We were pretty average in the first half but came home strongly in the second half in front of our home crowd. One of the great experiences in France is to play in front of a home crowd. Passion is king here and the people are fiercely parochial. This makes for a great atmosphere however rules such as tackling in the air are lost in the fog!
On the radar tomorrow is a visit to the Sagrada Familia, a Cathedral designed by Gaudi, but I think my biggest challenge will be finding somewhere to watch the Wallabies on Saturday.
It is hard to imagine a first win in Pretoria but the Wallabies have always been best with their backs against the wall. The events of this week tell a sad tale about the game in Australia no matter which way it plays out. For our game to succeed in Australia we need a successful Wallabies team showcasing the differences between Rugby and the other codes. Genuine international competition being one of many.
Bye for now!
