The top four teams in the Dewar Shield seem to have an edge on the competition this year. Harlequins are flying high, with the Broncos and Unicorns only at one length distance. The Eagles are the only team keeping the pace, only 8 points clear of fifth placed Moorabbin and look already well placed for a play-off berth.
The Matches
Harlequin vs Box Hill
After having faced and beaten Melbourne two weeks ago, Harlequins will host Box Hill in another blockbuster
The three times defending champions will host the 2014 runners up at home tomorrow in a match that can clearly affirm their dominance on the competition.
They have won all their games so far and scored a bonus point in each of their games.
The Box Hill Broncos lost only one game in the season and last week crashed fifth place Moorabbin by 31 points. They present, together with the Unicorns the highest threat to Harlequins.
Melbourne vs Endeavour Hills
With all eyes on the 1 vs 2 match, third placed Melbourne Unicorns will host fourth placed Endeavour Hills.
The Unicorns rebounded last week from their lost against the Harlequins with a smashing performance against Melbourne University, they scored 64 points, their highest total for the season, although they conceded 35 to the students.
The Eagles come to this match after a week bye and will have fresher legs to try to ambush the Unicorns.
Footscray vs Power House
Despite not being a top of the clash match the game at Henry Turner South Reserve is an intriguing one. The two teams sit at equal 17 points and will fight to keep alive the faint hope of a play-off spot
The Bulldogs came back to the w from their trip to the Pirate Ship last week. Their only second win of the season. The home game versus the ‘House is their best option to keep the momentum.
Power House positive streak after one win and one draw came to abrupt end last week where they faced Harlequin.
Moorabbin vs Melbourne University
Defeated by Box Hill last week, Moorabbin will face a less threatening opponent in Melbourne Uni. They shouldn’t underestimate the Students, however they suffered badly at the hands of Melbourne Last weekend. The Unicorns who able to inflict the highest score this season.
Bye Southern Districts
The Pirates are the last team to enjoy a week bye. With zero wins so far the moral at the Pirate Ship is not the highest, this weekend rest will be instrumental to get the team back on track and prepare for next week’s game against Power House.
