Last week the outrage was deafening over the revelation of the world’s largest painting by Sportsbet.
No, it wasn’t wasn’t because the sign was pumping a sports betting company (at least it didn’t have a certain Racing Trainer son’s face on it) and it wasn’t even because of the distaste some esteemed members of the establishment felt over seeing a Wallaby “cuddling” from behind what is clearly a male lion (with mane and all).
It was because this painting was a clear RIPOFF of a 2011 work of art by Green and Gold Rugby – our own Rooting for the Wallabies T-Shirt (right), which you may or may not remember being worn on catwalks and rugby grounds from Sydney to Wanganui.
At Green and Gold Towers we instantly swung into action, engaging our legal department with clear instructions to “take down to China town” these betting bohemoths. The ensuing legal battle was furious, as you’d expect with any meetings that include Duncan McRae.
I’m pleased to announce that at 3.30am in Melbourne at a certain fast food restaurant, G&GR and Sportsbet managed to come to an agreement. All we have to do is show the video below, and they’ll leave it at that.
This post was sponsored by Sportsbet but opinions are my own, and no, none of it really happened – apart from our T-Shirt and the world’s largest sign.
