An insidious home game against Moorabbin will test Box Hill second place on the ladder.
The Broncos jumped to second position on the ladder, thanks to the Unicorns’ home loss against the all-conquering Harlequins. But tomorrow, they’ll face a tough opponent in the Moorabbin Rams.
Both teams come off victories in last week’s round. The Broncos smashed Melbourne University at home last Saturday by 29 points, the Rams scrapped past the Bulldogs away.
Despite the fifth position on the ladder the Rams have a solid outfit that can find cracks in the sometime not so solid Broncos’ set pieces. If they will be able to contain Box Hill formidable backs they have a reasonable chance to put the red-white and blue under pressure.
From a possible Box Hill stumble may profit the Unicorns. They’ll visit the Students at HG Smith Oval in a fixture that should see them come home as winners, provided the loss against the Harlequins had motivated them more than lowered their spirit.
The top of the ladder Harlequins will also have an easier game and we expect them to stretch their winning streak further in their away game against Power House.
Lastly the final game of the round will see the Pirates hosting the Bulldogs in their best chance to finally mark their first win of the season.
Although not being able to score a win so far, Southern District shall be praised for their efforts in an almost completely revamped outfit. Footscray was able to score a win only in their first game of the season, a distant memory now.
