The Gallagher Chiefs have announced that dynamic loose forward Wallace Sititi will be out for an extended period following successful meniscus surgery on his right knee. The 22-year-old underwent the procedure last week and is expected to miss the majority of the 2025 DHL Super Rugby Pacific season.
Head coach Clayton McMillan acknowledged the setback, stating, “Everyone saw the impact Wallace had last season and he’s certainly a big loss for us, but our focus is now on supporting his recovery and eventual return to the field.” He added, “I also know he will continue to contribute positively to our environment in any way he can.”
Sititi’s 2024 rookie season was nothing short of stellar, culminating in his selection for the All Blacks’ end-of-season tour and earning the World Rugby Men’s 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year award.
While his on-field presence will be missed, the Chiefs are optimistic about his recovery and look forward to his contributions off the field during this period.
