Weird kid with a love of Rugby. Otherwise known as RugbyFuture or Auspanda, there's no doubt Greg is a rugby tragic when you see him wearing one of the 40 international Rugby Jerseys in his collection.
The Stars got their first win of the season in the last round of the National Rugby championship over a luckless Rays in a controversial but ultimately hard fought game of rugby played at Leichardt Thursday night. The Match With one team fighting for pride and the other for a finals spot, the game was definitely still on for both the Stars and the Rays in the big Sydney Derby between the two traditional rugby areas. The basically empty Leichardt oval saw a game between 2 improved but still needy bottom of the end of the table teams. That Stars…
A hard fought battle saw the Eagles edge out the Stars Monday afternoon. Solid games from both sides saw the eagles on top 24-26 The Match The Eagles defence looked broken from the kick off, often scrambling to match the stars as they held possession for the first ten minutes. 2 minutes in this resulted in a Try for James Dargaville, running through a gap ridden defence. Jack Macklin getting the kick over. As a result the Eagles previously broken defence tightened up and halted the game for about 10 minutes. With 28 minutes to go McKibbin almost broke through…
The Rays and Rams battled it out in one of the slower games of the NRC season, before a speedy end saw a 34 all draw for the two Sydney conglomerates. Although the game was played in perfect conditions it was littered with handling errors and took both teams a long time to find their rhythm. The Match Early on the game was played within the middle of the pitch, neither the Rams nor the Rays gaining a significant advantage over the other. Within the first ten minutes there were 4 penalties before either team looked a chance. 17 minutes…
2 of the 3 underperforming Sydney teams came out to play each other in what the NRC officials will want to become a festival of hate in the future, each looking to swing the glory supporters their way at a time when people are still forming their allegiances. The Rams chose to perform to produce a straight forward victory against the lacklustre stars in perfect conditions. The Match It didn’t take long for the Rams to show that they were playing to win when Taqele Naiyaravoro crashed over the line 5 minutes in after sustained pressure from their quick feed…
Perfect conditions and a good halves performance from Melbourne Rising highlighted a solid game of footy at Leichardt oval today. Heavy hits and solid defence from both sides set out a game which obviously had both teams tired by the end. The Match In their first home game of the season the Sydney Stars came out to the Star Wars theme in a bizarre piece of rugby pageantry, but this could have been foretelling a thrashing of the (rugby) empire (of USyd) from a team full of rebels. The game started solidly with most play in the first 20 held…
The first Sydney based game in the NRC was marked by dour conditions and an error ridden game that picked up in the second half to see the home team smash the Rams. The estimated 1000 strong crowd sprawled out from under the little shelter that was afforded to them at Coogee with an atmosphere of intrigue in what the ARU calls “rugby unleashed”. The Match The kick off occurred with little fan fair as an almost immediate eagles scrum was called, this was made the theme of the day as handling errors and slippery ground made penalties a certainty.…
