BREAKING NEWS: Matt Giteau receives a $5000 fine only
Brumbies fly half Matt Giteau has tonight escaped suspension but copped a $5,000 fine for comments made regarding referee Steve Walsh.
Giteau fronted the SANZAR judiciary and gave his version of the comments made about Walsh being appointed to the Brumbies game against the Reds this Saturday.
After around 1 hour of proceedings, it was deemed that Giteau was guilty of breaching the code of conduct and that a fine would be imposed.
The decision is a relief to all in the Brumbies camp as a suspension would cripple the Brumbies back line which is already reeling from a number of injuries.
