Gatland expects Smith and Cooper
A devotee of mind-games, Warren Gatland has piled selection pressure on Robbie Deans by saying the Wallaby coach would basically be an idiot not to pick the two.
On Smith he said “There is a huge amount at stake on this tour, winning the Test series and what comes with that. I would be selecting him but hopefully they will stick to their rules and don’t pick him.”
On Cooper – “From an Australian point of view I don’t see how they can afford to leave someone of the quality of Quade Cooper out of the team.”
Over to you Robbie.

Digby dirty with Reds
Unfortunately for Diggers, it’s been a slow news day for Aussie rugby as his evolving media spat with Reds CEO Jim Carmichael has escalated. Ioane is pissed that Carmichael questioned his conduct in the media yesterday. Carmichael is pissed that Digby is going on about a third party deal the Reds claim to have nothing to do with.
As to whether they’ll release Iaone from his contract to make a motza overseas , “”He’s going nowhere unless I release him,” Carmichael told The Australian.
