We understand that Beale will be introduced from the bench. There are two surprises compared to the team we thought would most likely be fielded.
The first is Christian Leali’ifano. It would appear that having seen both the Reds and Tahs profit though exploiting the types of wide and deep space that Scott Allen pointed out in his article yesterday, Deans has decided a second playmaker is the way to go. Perhaps the reduced threat of an injured Roberts has also swayed some thinking – or has Dingo been foxing from the start?
The second is Berrick Barnes at fullback. Leaving to one side Beale’s mental and match fitness, does this signal a desire to be able to play field position and contestable kicks to start, with Beale to bring more counter-attack from the bench?
So what do you think, is this the best side Robbie could field to face the Lions?
