The blues continues for the Blues and Reds are still red faced
At the bottom of the overall table, and of G&GR Tuesday Top Five, we have the Auckland and Brisbane team. The New Zealanders are by far the worst performing team of the competition with no wins out of their first five. Sir John Kirwan is under extreme pressure to throw in the towel and resign by the press over the ditch and the names of Robbie Deans, Warren Gatland and Joe Schmidt have been mentioned as possible replacements. Only the first one may be a contender but it is arguable that Deans will accept to coach a team in such a bad shape.
Similarly calls for the scalp of Richard Graham who has a record of 1 win and 4 losses. The Reds have scored combined less points (39) than the Brumbies in their first encounter (47). Injuries and the Hunt-gate have had for sure a huge impact on the low start of the Reds season. The Queensland team have a bye next week and this should help to regain some key players, regroup and lift up its game to forget Stephen Larkham’s harsh comment: “not at Super Rugby level“.
