3. Waratahs Back on Track
The Waratahs have taken top spot in the Australian conference, leap frogging the Brumbies, in an emphatic victory mirroring last year’s grand final against the Crusaders.
The Waratahs led for the majority of the fixture, with an impressive 10-0 run while young rake Tolu Latu spent ten minutes in the naughty chair. Typically the Cru fought back to be within three with fifteen minutes left to play, but for the second week in a row Bernard Foley scored a brilliant individual try to seal the win. I’ve skipped to this part:

There are many talking points, one will be the yellow card against Tolu Latu and subsequent citing of both he and Will Skelton for a tackle after the whistle:

That single action cost Latu a four week suspension and Skelton two weeks on the sideline. This will no doubt affect the Waratahs’ push to defend their super title with only three regular season games remaining and they intend to appeal the ruling.
But perhaps the one memory every rugby fan will take away from the match was the day they saw Richie McCaw get sin binned for the final ten minutes, with the game in the balance. This was made all the more dramatic by the ref initially holding up his left arm, which would normally indicate a penalty against the Waratahs. It wasn’t until the cheese was well and truly out of his pocket that it was clear that Sir Ritchie was the offender. Let’s relive that moment:
