5. Are the Waratahs 100%…?
It may seem funny considering how my teams going right now, but I wonder if the Waratahs are fully committed to their game plan. In Round three when they blew the Queensland Reds off the park it was all ‘Shock and Awe’. Now it’s ‘seen it all before’.
I can remember, just a few weeks ago, when the Tahs would kick off they would all line up on the ten metre line and scream up the field. It was one of the most impressive strategies I’ve seen all year. Last weekend the Tahs still lined up on the ten metre but these days only four or five guys are screaming up the field and the rest are trotting up to the first ruck.
Now I know these guys must be tired. They’re fresh back from South Africa a hard road trip for any team. And they have some pretty major injuries to deal with. But I also know they’re still four weeks away from their next bye and that must seem a long way away.
The poker face has gone and the coach has been charged by SANZAR for abusing a cameraman. It may just be wishful thinking or the infamous Queensland bias but I can’t help wonder if Chieka has lost part of the locker room.
