A combination of the inability of the Lions’ front row to adapt to the referee and a very strong performance by the Wallaby front row after Kepu was subbed on led to the Lions losing three of their own scrums. The Wallabies did not concede a scrum on their own feed during the evening. Both teams won 100 per cent of their own line outs but the Lions threw the ball in 12 times to five for the Wallabies. One interesting bit about the lineouts was the Lions preferring to throw to the front pod and beat the Wallaby lineout using speed off the ground. The Lions threw to their front pod eight times while the Wallabies didn’t take this option once.
