Wow. Brisbane Premier Rugby round one certainly didn’t disappoint. Although there weren’t any huge upsets or ground-breaking shocking results, there was still plenty of excitement to be had.
University v. Sunnybank
The Grand Final rematch between Sunnybank and Uni ended in Uni narrowly winning 46-41. In what was dubbed a ‘try fest’, the Uni side involved many up and coming Academy players. The future is looking bright for Uni. For the full match report click here:
Brothers v. Wests
Brothers had a very convincing win over Wests 51-3. This was very similar to their round one defeat of Wests last year but Wests did turn their season around and ended up playing some good footy. Let’s hope it’s a similar story this year. For the full report click Here
GPS v. Gold Coast Breakers
GPS managed to beat the Breakers 32-22. The score was often very close which proves that the Gold Coast is ready to come up against the big dogs this year. Here is the full report.
Norths v. Easts
Easts had a big win over Norths with the final score being 45-22. This bonus point win is definitely a good start for the Tigers as they will look to finally make the semi’s after two years of narrowly missing out. Full match report.
Sunshine Coast Stingrays v. Souths
Souths had a huge 43-7 win over the Stingrays. A match report for this couldn’t be found but the Magpies will certainly be relishing their bonus point win.
Round one produced some big scores –sounds like this year’s teams are just try-scoring machines.
So Premier Rugby is back –we’ve got some blockbusters to come next week as teams have some idea of their opposition’s form after one round. Stay tuned!
