It’s all Bill Pulver’s fault! Like everything bad that happens in Oz Rugby.
It all started when the ARU CEO announced there will be three Australian finalists in Super Rugby 2015. He immediately doomed the Reds coach and players into thinking they had already won the trophy.
They thought they were invincible, just like the Titanic. They trained so hard they broke their number one play maker and draw card – along with many of their Wallaby players. They thought every decision they made was so correct, that they bestowed a critical position of vice captain to an untested player, who also happened to be under the surveillance of the narcotics police. The Reds thought their attack was going to be so good, that the defence will take care of itself.
So as a result, the Reds are now placed last in the number of tries, last in metres gained, last in point difference and bunch of other embarrassing stats that drives Queensland back into bottom of the competition ladder.
Part 1. The Wreckage
As a result of Bill Pulver’s reckless actions, the Reds season has become another disaster. This first video examines their sunken season in the lens of one game: Reds vs Hurricanes a couple of weeks ago.
Part 2. The Salvage
Although the Hurricanes punished the Reds on the scoreboard, there may be a positive exit at the end of the long painful Rugby tunnel. The Reds have only a few games to get it right, and convince Reds Tragics its not yet time to slit our wrists. The second video unearths some salvageable treasures that may give cause for hope.
What’s Next?
There are obviously many players in the Reds who can bring the goods. The challenge is for the coaches and leadership to finally put it all together:
- Their defence is as shocking as ever. Gotta fix that.
- There is some bloke who is either carded, banned or injured. Gotta fix that too.
- Last but not least, the Reds is back to its most dangerous position – the lightweight underdog. Like Liam Gill, its time to show the size of fight in this dog. Drop the ‘top dog’attitude. It’s not becoming of a Queenslander.
OK, that’s it folks. Let us know if there’s any games or teams you want to be looked at. Meantime we look forward to your comments and questions.
