1. Worst Try – No Try decision… Wait for it… EVER!
So I’m watching my recording of the Stormers doing a good job of taking on the Brumbies and beating them when Stormers winger Dillyn Leyds scoots up the right wing and dives over in the corner. My first thought was ‘he’s dropped that!’ I’d learnt from a TMO last round that you have to look at these things in ‘real time’ or they can look worse than they really are. So… I looked. Nup dropped it.
So I fast forwarded because it was obviously a no try. And… Why is it taking so long? Nek Minut the ref is awarding a try! WHAT THE ACTUAL F… well you get my drift.
So I rewind back and whatch the slow mo. Nup Dropped it. I watch the slow mo reverse angle. Dropped it. I watched the slo mo front on angle. OMG people he dropped it.
The Stormers know he dropped it. The Brumbies know he dropped it. Dillyn Leyds knows he dropped it The thousands in attendance know he dropped it. THE MILLIONS… again you get my drift. He actually dropped it. So how did two highly trained match officials talk themselves into a try when everyone else on the rugby following planet could see he bloody dropped it?
