It appears increasingly likely that Berrick Barnes, James Horwill and Mungo McLinden will be passed fit the play this weekend against the Canes. All three took part in the Reds training session today however a definite answer on their fitness will not be made until tomorrow.
“They’ve all got to pass their final medicals but we’re hopeful they’ll be back in the team” Damon Emtage, Reds’ backs coach enthused.
In other injury news, back-up scrummie, Brendan McKibbin, has had foot surgery and will be out of rugby for an extended period while Ezra Taylor may also take the field this weekend after getting better than expected news on his dodgy knee.
With the good, there is invariably bad. Digby Ioane, who’s shoulder has failed to respond to treatment after injuring it against the Brumbies, will see a specialist tomorrow in order to determine the full extent of the injury and if surgery is required.
Without doubt Diggers has been the shining light of the Australian outside backs so to lose him for part, or all, of the upcoming International season would be a tremendous blow, not only to him, but also to those of us who are hoping he gets a chance at outside centre against the weaker oppositions of the Baa-Baa’s and Italians.

So that’s it. We want a win at home. No excuses.
Fuck, that’s very bad news about Diggers…..
