5. Reds on the move
Friday night’s game was an entertaining spectacle and was a good watch for the neutral. Sure the defence was a bit patchy but it’s only round 3 and I think the prognostications of doom by some Reds fans may be a little over the top.
OK so they don’t look like the all-conquering 2011 Reds, and I doubt they will win the comp this year. But they have shown that they can beat the Brumbies in Canberra with their defence, and beat the Cheetahs with their attack. The components of a great game are there, and when put together I see no reason why they can’t be a finals team.
The form of Will Genia is worrying, but I think he might be a bit of a late bloomer. He’ll come good. Quade is playing well, and Chris FS is starting to develop nicely at 13. The backrow is quality, and I was loving the ball-playing work of Liam Gill in his all-too-short stint on the field. I wouldn’t be too unhappy if I were a Queenslander right now. I mean, you guys aren’t nearly as good as the Tahs, but you certainly aren’t alone there…
