this was a seriously good game.
I ended up watching this game, then the Lions and Cheetah’s both scored 4 tries a piece in a really fun game to watch from Ellis-excuse me, Coca cola park in J’Burg. Very entertaining weekend of rugby.

Great game to start the season. So far this weekend these two teams performed the best. Highlanders will be no pushovers.
thanks a lot for the video from a spanish fan of super 14
The unlucky losers in the first week. The highlanders, who will be the dark horse of NZ teams, vs who i think will be the best performing Aus team. that midfield showed what it will be trying to do, power running, with burners on the outside and at fullback…
But, how upsetting. The Chiefs. I still back the chiefs to be the Top team in the comp (at least from NZ) and the way they played in patches against the Crusaders, they are definitely a big player this year. They just couldnt capitalise on opportunities. 15 minutes until the first score, of which the chiefs had 10 with the ball launching attacking raids into crusaders territory. But for me the telling tale was the territory count, in the crusaders favour despite losing the possession battle and the tunrovers/misse tackles/errors count. Stephen Donald has to realise, one of the reasons he can be the 10 everyone expects him to be, is he can play terroitory really well. he didnt kick for terrotiry enough, and as such, the Chiefs got frantic, and couldnt seize their opportunties to put points on teh board. Very un-impressive display from the crusaders, exectp for laulala and McCaw, and maybe Ross Filipo. as such the Chiefs, did all they can to lose that game. Idiots.
It is ironic how important a strong forward pack and strong tactical kicking are in the ELV area. Really I think these rules have worked outstandingly well and increased the proportion of each game spent executing skills as opposed to faffing around.
My big tip is that RWC 2011 will cause NH to regret not adopting earlier.
Agreed Patrick, the ELVS make you play rugby better.
Thats why AUS, NZ and SA who played under the ELVS at home were able to visit NH and win under other rules.
I cant think of a great analogy now, but surely someone else can…

What a fantastic way to start the Super 14 season. It’s a pity there were not more people at the house of pain in Dunedin to watch this game. What a back and forth affair! First the Highlander’s blitz the Brumbies, then the Brumbies come back, go behind, and then win on Lealiifano’s drop goal. If you cannot enjoy a game of rugby like this, you need to switch to de-caf. Super game.
