As if losing the Bledisloe in the dying seconds by a final kick wasn’t enough, in the ensuing press conference Ewen McKenzie announced that he had emailed in his resignation at 10am Saturday.
Apparently McKenzie “felt he was going to struggle to retain the level of respect he needed from playing group and staff”.
Bill Pulver blamed the “extraordinary character assassination that [McKenzie] has had to put up with for the last two weeks” for the turn of events.
The ARU intend to announce the next coach before the team leaves for Europe on Friday.
Should Ewen McKenzie have resigned?
