Alright, Tahs fans, it’s that time of year again. The offseason’s done, the pre-season grind is in full swing, and head coach Dan McKellar is ready to lead the charge into the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season. And guess what? He’s got a message for you: This year, we’re giving you a reason to cheer. (Yes, really!)
After a 2024 season that was… let’s just say, “character-building,” McKellar is confident that the Waratahs are set to turn things around. Speaking from Tahs HQ in Daceyville, he’s got high praise for the squad’s dedication, especially with the return of some big-name Wallabies. According to him, they’ve come back hungry, eager, and – dare we say it – actually ready to rip in.
“The boys have been outstanding,” McKellar said, probably while sipping on a protein shake and staring wistfully at the Shute Shield trophy. “Their attitude has been top-notch, and we’re building something special here.”
And it’s not just words, folks. The Tahs have history, heart, and a fanbase that’s seen it all (literally). From epic highs to… well, you remember last year. But McKellar reckons patience is key. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a championship-winning Waratahs side. The good news? The team’s buying in, putting in the hard yards, and working to bring that classic Waratahs flair back to Allianz Stadium.
Oh, and speaking of flair – enter Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii. The bloke’s been tearing it up in training, and McKellar has been singing his praises like a proud parent at school sports day. “He’s a class act. Works hard, competes hard, and is fitting in perfectly,” McKellar said, before expertly dodging any questions about where the superstar will actually play. (Come on, Dan, give us something!)
So, what’s next? Well, mark your calendars for Friday, February 14th, because the Highlanders are coming to town. Allianz Stadium. Friday night footy. Valentine’s Day. What better way to show your love for the game than by screaming your heart out for the boys in blue?
Tickets are on sale now through Ticketek, so get on it. And remember, Tahs fans – it’s a new season, a fresh start, and if McKellar has anything to say about it, plenty of reasons to believe.
